If you do not want an application to connect to your network, then stop it from accessing using the Windows Firewall. Through your Windows Firewall, you can also block it temporarily. To deactivate or block the program, you must be an administrator and administrator access. Without administrator access, you cannot accomplish this. Here's how you can disable or block software to block it from Windows Firewall. visit www.office.com/setup

How to deactivate the program temporarily:

  • Go to the menu 'Start.'

  • Find Windows Defender Firewall' using your search tool.

  • Click "Windows Defender Firewall" at the right side of the page.

  • Click 'Allow ' to allow an app or feature to run using Windows Firewall.'

  • Click on the 'Change Settings' at the top of the screen.

  • Select 'Yes' at the prompt.

  • Select the program you wish to block in the "Name list.

  • Scroll down to view the rest of the programs.

  • If you can't locate the program you'd like to deactivate, you may look for the program by hand.


To include the app or program to the following list:

  • Click "Allow another app" button at the lower right.

  • Click on ‘Browse’.

  • Find the program or app location you'd like to turn off.

  • Choose that the file is in ".exe" file format.

  • Click the "Open" button.

  • Click "Add".

  • Add the applications or programs you wish to block.

  • Click to take off the checkmark left of the app you'd like to temporarily disable.

  • If the checkmark on the left has been unchecked before It means that the program has been disabled.

  • Don't alter the two check boxes to the right of the application.

  • Click OK at the bottom of the page to make sure you save the settings.


This will shut down the program and stop the program from operating on your computer.

How do you prevent an application by Windows Firewall?

It is necessary to create a "New Rule” to stop the program. Here's how to make an appropriate rule.

  • Click on the Start menu.'

  • Find Windows Defender Firewall' using Google's search function.

  • Click Windows Defender Firewall at the top of the page.

  • Select Advanced settings.'

  • Click on Outbound Rules.'

  • Select 'New Rule' ..'.

  • Press the radio button on "Program.'

  • Click the Next> button.

  • Choose 'Program path' to block a particular program or select 'All programs to block all.

  • Click on the button 'Browse.

  • Find the address of the app or program.

  • Click on the program and select it.

  • Click here to open the address bar.

  • Copy the path in your address bar.

  • After that, click on the button 'Open.

  • Click on the path to program field.

  • Replace the address prior to the name of the program with your copied address.

  • Click the Next> button.

  • Then click the 'Next> button two more times.

  • Name your policy.

  • You could also write a short description.

  • After that, click 'Finish' finish.


It's that simple! The new rule is set and the chosen application or program will be blocked.
