Trademarking: An Essential Element for Security of Assets

You must have heard a lot of people saying trademarking is one of the most important things a business can do. It is true, because with my personal experience, anything that is trademarked under your name, will not be open to threats that it cannot be stolen or damaged. In fact, recently I got to know that Washington Trademarked Statue of the great George Washington. I mean who would have thought that this statue can be stolen or can be claimed the rights on, but it is still kept safe.
What are your views on this?
