Nothing better to lift our spirits than a delicious chicken broth with its vegetables, rice, carnita and a little lemon. As soon as we taste it, a feeling of relief reaches our body, almost magically.
But why does this broth pamper us so much and is it one of the grannies' favorite remedies when they see us “cuddled”? Well, there is a scientific explanation for this and today we share it with you.

Chicken meat contains a substance called tryptophan, which is an amino acid that causes us a comforting sensation when we consume it.
Eating this food increases the levels of serotonin in the brain (the hormone of happiness), which improves the mood.
But the effects of tryptophan go much further: this amino acid greatly improves sleep disorders (such as insomnia) caused by anxiety, achieving a much more restful sleep.
This is because it also helps in the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep, and also helps the immune system to function properly!
You should know that the defenses are closely related to the mood. If we feel down, we are much more likely to get sick because our defenses are lowered. It is when the chicken broth kicks in to make us feel better.
And why is chicken broth so special to our moods unlike other chicken recipes? This is due to the temperature.
As with beverages such as tea, the heat in chicken broth optimally concentrates the nutrients in your food, so its effects are more optimal than in other types of cooking.
In addition, our organic function also influences our mood: a chicken broth is very easy to digest, preventing us from feeling in a bad mood when consuming it.
And finally, liquid hot food in general (broths, soups and drinks) make us feel comfortable, especially in the cold seasons of the year.
Don't hesitate: indulge yourself with the flavor and heat of a chicken broth. You will see that you will feel much better.
We leave you some delicious recipes for you to try today.
Healthy ageing is about creating the environments and opportunities that enable people to be and do what they value throughout their lives. Everybody can experience healthy ageing. Being free of disease or infirmity is not a requirement for healthy ageing, as many older adults have one or more health conditions that, when well controlled, have little influence on their wellbeing.
